Vidi, vici, veni -- I saw, I conquered, I came.

Claustrophobia.
Just a little claustrophobic, hmm?
Apparently the owner of this tiny house on wheels doesn't mind. Dee Williams wanted to live a more environment-friendly life, and this 84 square foot doll house was one of the ways she chose.
The small house, which fits into a standard parking space was built from salvaged materials.
Her heating bill is only six dollars a month and solar panels allow her to have free electricity.
It might be fun when going camping or otherwise traveling, but I don't think I could take it full time. For one thing, I'd not be able to fit my entire book collection in there, though the loft bedroom looks sufficient for bedroom activities.

I might have to look into one of those. The way things are going...who knows, it might be MY next house!

Not a chance! I can't imagine trying to live in something like that!

Looks even smaller though taller than the Moon Palace - that also has a solar panel though uses diesel oil to travel.

I don't know that I would go that small, but, if I didn't have the kids, I could go for one of these Idea Boxes.

That's a little small for me. But if I lived on my own I could definitely live in something smaller than I have. There are 2 of us in 800 sq ft, which doesn't seem crowded at all.
Well all I can ask is

where does she bathe, do her dishes, if she has any, cooks and or keeps her food fresh, and go to the potty? Perhaps she mostly parks in her parents driveway and uses all of the above. That is not for me.

I was intrigued by your questions, Patty, and did a bit more digging about this. For one thing, she's not as young as she looks in the picture -- she's 45. She parks the house in the backyard of some friends. The house has no plumbing and has a "composting toilet" only. She uses a camping cooler for anything that needs refrigeration, which means she can't store anything for any length of time. She showers inside her friends' home in exchange for doing handy work around house. She has one burner in the cabin and uses bottled water for cooking.
She has a professional job, so she doesn't have to live like this -- which is not entirely independent.
Texican's Idea Boxes seems like a better solution for those who wish to live frugally.

Reminds me of how I lived when I left my first husband. The electricity had been shut off and all I had was a cooler for cold food and a camping stove a freind gave me....I showered at the next door neighbors house in exchange for babysitting her kids a few hours a day. That was well over 20 years ago....don;t think I would want to do that again!
I like the houses Tex showed....I wonder how much they cost.

According to a Tiny House Blog...
There are two models in production: the Northwest Modern, a 400sf. 1BR built to RV/Park Model code (around $75k); the Confluence Modern, a 840sf. 2BR built to the Federal HUD Code/site-built modular codes (around $85k).

Thanks, Tex. I've also looked on the Tumbleweed Homes site, who designed Dee Williams' home and they have several other options, some with bathrooms.

I couldn't live like that, but the idea boxes look pretty cool....
