Ralph Nader Predicts Obama's VP Choice

Earlier today, Ralph Nader expressed the opinion that Barack Obama would be wise to choose Hillary Clinton as his running mate. Unimpressed with the three men whose names have been bandied about as likely VP picks, Sens. Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, Nader said he didn't think Obama would be "that dumb" as to pick one of the three.

Despite the fact that Obama probably personally dislikes Clinton, Nader predicts that he'll do as John F Kennedy did in 1960 when he chose Lyndon Johnson, a man with whom he had many political differences. “He just has to swallow hard and do what JFK did," Nader said.

In Nader's view, a Obama-Clinton ticket would help promote party unity and bring back on board the approximately 25 percent of former Clinton supporters who did not transfer their allegiance to Obama after she dropped out of the race.

Personally, I think Nader's got the right idea.

It would be a good choice to get some more votes from the dissapointed Clinton H. fans but if i remember correctly i think Hilary already has said in the past that she would deny the VP position.

Well, we see that Nader was wrong - again. I think Barack made the right decision. The experience arguement is now out with the bathwater, Biden is an insider - he knows Washington politics inside and out, strong foreign affairs knowledge.

When it's all said and done, I have a sneaking suspicion Hillary will be asked to be Secretary of State. That would suit her well.

Nader is a fool. I have no idea why anyone pays attention to him.

Clinton would have been a terrible choice for VP. She is a divisive and polarizing person who plays a lot of partisan politics which is exactly what Obama wants to avoid.

I think she'll earn a cabinet post, but she'd be a disastrous Secretary of State. We need to repair our image in the world, not play more of the same Bush-lite games.
